I know what it’s like to have that sick feeling in your stomach and the shock of not seeing your blog posts! I hope this helps anyone that just wiped out their blog posts and finds this blog post by searching on Google.

After  updating some plugins and/or editing a post on one of my other blogs  and before actually backing up my blog, I pulled up my blog and noticed that all the blog posts were gone!

Of course this had to happen on the night I was making a quick post before leaving for the weekend, so I just made a big note  and left it on my desk that my blog was gone and I needed to fix it when I got home. Of course I thought about it, but I couldn’t do anything about it so I put it out of my mind as best as I could.

After trying several things the following Thursday and getting nowhere closer to seeing a blog post, I called Hostgator support.

I asked them if they have a backup and was told they back up Sunday and hold it for one week,  so if I would have called as soon as it happened I would have gotten my blog back to that Sunday.

Fortunately I got a  a wonderful guy who repaired my database and told me to go to my site and there it was as good as new!

Lesson learned! Backup your blog at least weekly. Don’t rely on your host to do it for you.

It takes very little time and it could save hours, days, months, even years of valuable information and of course your time!
