Setting Goals – How To Break Long-Term Goals Into Short-Term Goals and Daily Action Plans

In this article you are going to find out how to break your long-term goals down into a series of short-term goals. You are also going to learn how to come up with a daily plan of action to get your long-term goals accomplished.

You might eat a 50-lb tub of Hershey kisses in 5 years, but you are not going to sit and eat them all in a day. So why do people think you can set a 5-year goal and accomplish it in the last 3 months before a goal is to be reached. That is not even feasible.

If you don’t make a 5-year goal and start working for it today, you are not going to reach it. If you set a 5-year goal today and get started you will have 1825 days to actually reach your goal.

How do you accomplish your long-term plans? Break them down into bite-sized pieces. If you have a 5-year plan, break it down into what you must do by the year to get it done in 5 years.

After you do that, break your 1 year plan into the next 12 months. What must you do each month for the next 12 months to hit your 12 month goal?

After you do your monthly goals, break them down into daily goals. What must you do everyday in the next 30 days to be able to reach your monthly goals?

I hope you will take a few moments and do just that. Most people spend more time planning their 2-week vacation than they do planning their lives.

You are going to be one year older next year at this time, whether you set goals or not. What would you really like to accomplish in that year?
